Preguntale's Unique Adventures

Apart from riding horses and taking selfies in the campo, Diego, Preguntale’s owner, frequently finds him having fallen off his motorbike due to his attempts to drive home drunk, driving the tractor, hanging out with his friends or being the main attraction at an exposition. Writing a blog post about Preguntale came to our minds without hesitation.

Preguntale came straight from working the cows, so first of all he needed to be groomed. Which he absolutely loves!

Preguntale's Photogenic Charm

Watching his reels, you'd assume creating content like his takes a ton of effort and training - we all know how tricky it can be to snap a cute selfie with a dog. But when we tried taking one with Preguntale, he was definitely the more photogenic one. Straight into character!

Before arriving, we expected Preguntale to be very calm and maybe a bit aloof to the attention. But as soon as we opened the car door, a joyful dog ran towards us, begging to be petted. Besides being an influencer, Preguntale is first and foremost a working dog. He spends the majority of his time in the campo with Diego.

Diego works as a traditional campero, tending to the land and animals, which includes agriculture, cows, and general maintenance around the Estancia, of course always accompanied by his best friend.

How Preguntale Got His Name

Back in 2017, while Diego was riding around the property, he discovered an abandoned puppy in the furthest corner of the land. It wasn't unusual to find stray puppies from wild dogs in the area, so Diego knew the puppy didn’t have an owner. Although he wasn't particularly fond of dogs, let alone interested in having one, he decided to bring the puppy back to the house to save its life. A few days later, a friend of Diego’s came over to the house and saw the puppy. He asked what his name was, and Diego looked at the puppy and said ‘Preguntale’ (‘Ask him’). And this is how Preguntale got his name!

A Growing Bond

As time went on, Diego found himself growing attached to the dog and forming a strong bond. It's your classic tale of the reluctant dad who didn't want a dog but ends up being the one who loves it the most! Without intending to train him for anything specific, they ended up performing some 'tricks' together. Over time, Diego discovered that Preguntale stayed pretty quiet when asked to do certain things like balancing a treat (or a can of beer) on his nose. It was like Diego had accidentally stumbled upon a furry little magician!

Social Media Stardom

Diego himself was never into Social Media, but one day after a couple of Fernet y Coca with his friends, the same friend who asked about the name suggested they take a video of Preguntale and upload it on TikTok and it turned out to be a hit! From there on, Diego kept coming up with new sketches, and things really started rolling.

People love seeing Preguntale, and not just people from the countryside but also from the city. He makes them laugh while showcasing the genuine work of a campero with his dog. Seeing how well Diego treats Preguntale has inspired many viewers to treat their dogs better or even get a dog of their own. Diego's great humour, combined with Preguntale's incredible personality, makes for a fantastic team.

The Gaucho Community's Perspective

Before visiting Diego and Preguntale, we met several Gauchos who deeply appreciate what Diego and Preguntale represent. They showcase authentic life on the Argentinian countryside through sketches, humorous videos, and Diego's day-to-day work shared in his Instagram stories.

Preguntale's Trusty Steed

What’s a true Gaucho without his trusty steed? Naturally, Preguntale has his very own pony. He adores riding, though his steering skills are a work in progress, requiring a bit of strategic planning on Diego’s side. His audience spans all ages—humour knows no bounds!

Preguntale's Playful Spirit

Watching Preguntale happily mount and dismount his pony, sit on a chair and play dress-up was pure entertainment. He is not forced to do anything - he is free to hop off and walk away any time. During our visit, Diego asked him to pose for a quick photo on a chair. After we were done, Preguntale stayed put for another 15 minutes, simply because he was enjoying himself! The bond between Diego and his dog is a beautiful sight and we feel lucky to have gotten to know such an incredible duo.
